Laughter Yoga

So it turns out there is a whole type of yoga dedicated to helping people laugh and enjoying the physical and emotional benefits of laughter.  It is, not surprisingly, called Laughter Yoga.  You can read about it generally on Wikipedia, or more specifically on Dr. Kataria's website (Dr. Kataria being the founder of laughter yoga).  The Associated Press did a write-up on it November of 2006.  Thirty minutes to a happier, healthier you!

(BTW, Has anyone ever done this before?  Please comment and share your experience.)

Funny, and not naughty.

Great laughs can be had watching or listening to Brian Regan.  You can get a preview of his stand-up comedy routine here.  Best of all, it's entirely family-friendly comedy.

Articles on the Benefits of Laughter

Here's a few articles discussing the health benefits of laughter.

1.  A great, thorough, readable article on the benefits of adding laughter into your life, and a few suggestions on how to do so.  I really like the idea about "moving toward laughter."  Check it out

2.  A review of studies exploring the benefits of laughter.  Read it here

3.  A University of Maryland Medical Center report of their work in this area.

And to give us all a little help getting started, you just gotta check out this little 3 minute video on YouTube.  Let me know if you find the laughter from this little guy as contagious as I do!  Laughing Baby.
